EmPower New YorkSM
The focus of EmPower New YorkSM is on cost-effective electric reduction measures, particularly lighting and refrigerator replacements. Other cost-effective energy efficiency measures may also qualify. The average benefit is calculated at $690 per household.
Who is Eligible Customers referred by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation and New York State Electric and Gas Company (NYSEG) are eligible for energy efficiency services and energy use management education.
How to Participate The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) contracted with Honeywell DMC to implement the EmPower New YorkSM Program. The energy efficiency services are delivered by local contractors and appliance vendors.
Since behavior is key to realizing energy savings, on-site energy use education is provided to the customers receiving energy efficiency measures. Energy efficiency workshops will be held throughout the Niagara Mohawk and NYSEG service territories. How to Apply While direct referrals from the two utilities' payment assistance programs are the major source of customer referral, the program also encourages referrals of income eligible households by local Offices for the Aging and other community based organizations.
